Time Sport USA Cup Standings After Week 7*

November 4th, 2008

Our apologies on the lack of an update over the last week. As we all know the season is in full swing and the office has been quite busy computing all of the results and figuring out who belongs where! Naturally, there may be some mistakes and we will do our best to correct them if you notice any discrepancies (some of the Green Acres results lacked team identifications).

It should also be noted that these results do not include the Rum River CX as those results do not contain order of finish. Due to this we are soliciting imput from various individuals to come up with a fair way to distribute points to those that attended the Milaca race. Check back later for how those points will be awarded.

The last two weekends have played a large role in the current standings with the Crossniacs taking a 200pt chunk out of the once formidable lead of the Ridley Factory squad. However, the lack of female racers continues to haunt the relatively well-balanced Crossniacs team.

It also seems that a lack of turnout from one of the largest teams in the area, Bianchi/GP, has started to hurt in the standings with the depth of Gopher Wheelman and Grumpy’s/LGR leapfrogging the group from Grand Ave. The battle for 5th place remains the closest between the Gophers and Little Guys with the Grandstay team within biting distance despite the reemergence of Brian Koeneman to the Hoteliers.

The current standings after seven weeks:

1. Ridley Factory - 3448pts (LW: 2789pts) +/- 0

Time Sport USA Cup Standings After Week 5

October 26th, 2008

The Time Sport USA Cup Standings are beginning to solidify as the MCF cyclocross calendar is now half completed. The big movers this week was the Gopher Wheelman squad with their all out team attack on the lower categories of racing and with an eventual goal of having riders in the A race they will be a squad to watch out for in the coming years.

The Ridley Factory team continues to dominate with their consistent women’s showings and the likes of Dave Hackworthy picking up points in the absence of U-23 National Champion Bjorn Selander. One can only expect that the Ridley team will hold on with the victory due to the lack of consistent points from the Crossniacs in the ever-important Womens races.

After all, it is a team competition!

*If you see any errors please tell Super Rookie at the next race. He did his very best discerning the results, but the lack of teams listed on the Hudson 2.0 results made it rather difficult!

Standings after five weeks:

1. Ridley Factory - 2789pts (LW: 1896pts) +/- 0

Minnesota Cyclocross Racing Team Cup (MCRTC) Kick-Off This Weekend

September 19, 2008: This weekend marks the start for the 2008 MCF Cyclocross Season. In addition to the 17 races that crisscross the state on 9 consecutive weekends, 11 teams will be battling for the inaugural TIME SPORT USA Team Cup, presented by SmithersMpls.com. This new competition was created to determine the best all around club on the Minnesota racing circuit. With a sliding point scale rewarding the top 3 riders per team from each race, an overall champion will be determined by the end of
the season.

Minnesota has long been a hotbed for cyclocross racing and this season will prove no difference. Teams entered into the Time Cup include the Ridley Factory Team and U-23 National Champion Bjorn Selander. Selander is backed up with other strong riders including a powerhouse women’s team that includes Linda Sone and Corey Coogan. Sure to be nipping at the heels of the Ridley squad throughout the season will be the Grandstay Residential Hotels team that features the Swanson Brothers (Dan and Doug) and Dan Casper a top Masters racer. Doug has been on top of the cyclocross scene in Minnesota for quite a few years, but in the team competition he will need to rely on some other members of the squad to take home the ridiculously large trophy.

Both the Behind Bars/LGR and Crossniacs teams feature deep squads that will be racing across the spectrum. Both teams have added some much needed depth to challenge for the overall title. Hoping to capitalize on results throughout the series, these two teams have been at the forefront of creating this competition and leading the charge to donate money to Minnesota Food Shelves. Despite these good intentions, the SPBRC team will be challenging these teams on the depth front and with the likes of Pat Lemiux and Hurricane Hannah the SPBRC boys should be getting some good results.
The teams in the competition are:

Bianchi / Grand Performance / SPBRC
Category 6 Racing Squad
Crossniacs
Gopher Wheelmen
GrandStay Residential Suites
Behind Bars/LGR
Hup United
Loon State Cyclists
MCT/Tonka
Nature Valley-Penn Cycle
Ridley Factory Team

The winning team will receive the MCRTC and the honor of keeping it at their shop sponsor until next season’s team is chosen – think Stanley Cup of Cyclocross.

Limited edition MCRTC apparel will be available for sale at the cross races.

Announcing season-long team series competition to decide the best Minnesota cyclocross team

After much CRYing, Grumpy’s/LGR and Crossniacs, sat down and put together the end all be all competition to decide the best of the best. After hours and hours of contract negotiations, TIME SPORT USA and SmithersMpls.com stepped up as the title sponsors. “It was a tough decision…we were evaluating sponsoring a pro team or the MCRTC and we decided the MCRTC would give us a lot more exposure for our brands.” stated Smithers. “We are honored to be working with Grumpy’s/LGR and Crossniacs, both world-class teams.”

The guidelines for the series are:
The top 3 racers per team per race are counted for the series. Teams must email the series administrator, hayes.tim@gmail.com, prior to September 7 to let us know to keep track of their team. Teams must also donate a nominal $10 fee to partake. The $10 fee will be donated to a local food shelf.

If you do not notify Super Rookie, then you will not be included in the competition will miss out on bragging rights for a whole year. The MCRTC will be presented at the Minnesota State Championship race.

The winning team will receive the MCRTC and the honor of keeping it at their shop sponsor until next season’s team is chosen – think Stanley Cup of Cyclocross.
